The best way to skill up is in company of others with similar goals.
That’s why I decided to create SK NEXUS Discord for the Pakistani community.
A group for like minded individuals leveraging experiences based around tech, career, and business.
But, I hope it will become your home –
- A home for folks pursuing professional excellence
- A home for folks driven by passion for tech
- A home for folks who want to learn and collaborate with others
Here’s the catch – I don’t want ‘everyone’ to just take all the effort for granted.
Reason? – We have a gated process to let folks in. You start as a newbie, and make your way up the ladder – most don’t and get pruned.
Down the road this approach may change, but for now, here is an inside look:

Generally speaking, this server is for anyone from anywhere. But since the majority of folks will be from Pakistan, it is more relevant to people around here or people with similar socioeconomic issues running where they live when it comes to tech, career, and business in the region.
Primarily the server is for discussions and networking around tech, career, and business topics in the region. And we have a healthy balance of fun discussions as well.
Anyone can join the SK NEXUS server. No matter if you are early in your career, in university, or an established professional. As long as you adhere to the rules of the server, you are welcome to join it.

Asking good questions is key to getting the right help in any community. Day in and day out active members have to deal with repeat and mundane questions, so please make sure when you ask a question, it has some basic research behind it.

We talk about career and freelancing a lot in the server. And it certainly helps one to get better opportunities over time.
But the primary focus is education and enablement around these topics.
This is NOT a job hunting server.
We do have some opportunities come infrequently which folks have leveraged to upskill in various fields. But a better use of this community would be to learn how to be a better professional.
The server is divided into 3 types of channels.
Channels for general topical discussions such as movies, music, games, and cars.
Channels for domain specific discussions such as software development, design, product management, infosec, etc.
Voice Channels for discussions and working or playing together.
If you become an active member you can pitch new ideas by leaving feedback within the server for Admins. This is a fresh and growing server, so you can be the one responsible for it reaching scale.
Right now we just have a weekly check-in to catch up on everyone’s personal or work-related tasks. As we get more members the plan is to expand into more weekly events related to freelancing, tech, and business topics.

You can find the up to date rules within the server in the ‘start-here’ channel. But generally speaking, they are as following:
– Be Respectful: Harassment, sexism, racism, or hate speech are not allowed. Using racial slurs, gender discrimination, or offensive language will result in a ban.
– Keep Topics Appropriate: No religious, political, or NSFW discussions.
– No Spam or Self-Promotion: Don’t send server invites or advertisements without staff permission. This INCLUDES DMing other members.
– No Inappropriate Content: Do not share age-restricted or obscene content, including nudity, sex, violence, or disturbing materials.
– Protect Your Privacy: Avoid sharing personal/sensitive information like addresses or mobile numbers.
– Use Relevant Channels: Keep discussions in the appropriate channels. – – – Irrelevant posts and messages will be deleted.
– Avoid Duplicate Posts: Use the right channels for specific topics. If you’re unsure, ask for help in 💬┃general-chat
– Follow Staff Moderation: Staff decisions are final. Treat them with respect and don’t argue.
– Embrace Diversity: This small focused group is for professionals and enthusiasts with an entrepreneurial mind. Be open-minded and supportive, even to those with less experience.
– Engage Actively: I want this group to be small but mighty. Which means your active contribution is required. Low activity members will be pruned every now and then.
– Job posting: Any job posts or looking for work posts are up for careful moderation. Get permission before sharing to be secure around it.
